Tigran Haas - bokens redaktör - skriver i bokens förord följande: This book, Sustainable Urbanism and Beyond: Rethinking Cities for the Future, similarly started as being inspired by, not the result of, the Council for European Urbanism and Congress for New Urbanism Conference on Climate Change and Urban Design held in Oslo, Norway, in September 2008. Building on the ideas from its predecessor, the structure of the current work assembles yet another collection of some of the brightest urban minds of today. This is not an anticipatory work, a book of dreams, or a nostrum for the future design of cities and our communities. As noted in the preceding book in the series, it is also valid here to make the final observation that this is simply a solidly grounded collection of ideas and thoughts on our urban condition and beyond written by an exceptional group of individuals never assembled before. It is a homogenous series of proactive lessons on how the evolution of urbanism will alter the way we live, work, build, and communicate in our cities, communities, and neighborhoods—an unpretentious but coherent and balanced set of essays with a vision of contemporary and future urban form and its influence on everyday life patterns in our “brave, new twenty-first-century world.” Ett av kapitlen - Planning is Choosing, or should be - är skrivet av Torbjörn Einarsson Arken Arkitekter. |
